# Search by Name

## **Concept & Behavior**

Search by Name filters and groups objects dynamically across the project based on a text query (string matching).

* Dynamic Nature: As objects are renamed, added, or deleted, the system re-evaluates the name query in real time.
* Standardized Workflows: Highly effective in projects that follow structured naming conventions (e.g., grouping all objects containing `Floor_1`, `Zone_A`, or `Alarm`).

**Matching Options**

* Contains: Matches any object whose name includes the specified text string (e.g., `Pump` matches `Main_Pump_01` and `Aux_Pump`).

## **How to Set Up**

1. Create a new Smart Group and select `Search` as the `Type`
2. Choose `Name` as the parameter to Search For
3. In the `Search Term`, enter the name of object you are looking for

Search Term does not need to be exact. Any object container letters that match what is provided will be included.&#x20;
