# Search by Type

## **Concept & Behavior**

Search by Type automatically gathers every object in the project that belongs to a specific object class or type (e.g., all `Light Fixtures`, all `Temperature Sensors`, or all `Relays`).

* Dynamic Nature: The group continuously monitors the project tree. Whenever a new object of the target type is created—or an existing object's type is modified—the Smart Group updates its membership automatically.
* Consistency: Ensures no newly created objects of that type are accidentally omitted from group control or monitoring.

## **How to Set Up**

1. Create a new Smart Group and select `Search` as the `Type`&#x20;
2. Choose `Type` as the parameter to Search For
3. In the `Search Term`, enter the type of object you are looking for
