# SPNet TouchDesigner

Connect Grid Studio with TouchDesigner to use live tracking, point clouds, camera and lens data, events, and custom values in your projects.

SPNet for TouchDesigner is a native integration that brings data from Grid Studio directly into your TouchDesigner network.

Use tracked objects to control geometry, turn point clouds into visuals, or drive a virtual camera with incoming tracking and lens data.

### Why use SPNet for TouchDesigner?

Grid Studio handles the spatial data, while TouchDesigner uses that data to create visuals and interactive experiences.

The integration makes this data available through dedicated operators, so you can work with familiar TouchDesigner tools without building your own network receiver or decoding SPNet messages.

You can start with a single tracked object controlling a cube, then expand the same workflow into scenes with multiple objects, interactive graphics, and tracked cameras.

### Available data

* **Tracking data:** Receive object positions, rotations, scale, and IDs to control geometry or drive instancing.
* **Point clouds:** Work with individual points, including their positions, IDs, sizes, and colors.
* **Camera data:** Drive a TouchDesigner camera using tracking and lens data, including field of view, center shift, distortion, and overscan.
* **Events:** Detect when objects become active or inactive to trigger actions, such as showing or hiding graphics.
* **Generic data:** Receive named numeric values, vectors, colors, text, and point lists for custom workflows.

### Working with the data

The integration provides operators for different tasks:

| Operator family | Purpose |
| --------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| CHOP | Access numeric values as channels for parameter control and instancing. |
| DAT | Access structured tables, text, and object activity events. |
| POP | Generate geometry from incoming point clouds. |
| TOP | Apply camera lens distortion to a rendered image. |

The camera integration can also create a camera rig that connects the incoming camera data to a Camera COMP, a render, and the native distortion TOP.

Data is received over the network using SPNet, supporting both unicast and multicast connections.
