# Send camera data from Grid Studio

Configure a Camera Object and SPNet Camera Map Output in Grid Studio to send camera tracking and lens data to TouchDesigner.

To send camera data to TouchDesigner, you need:

* An **SPNet Object** configured as Sender.
* A **Camera Object**.
* An **SPNet Camera Map Output** on the Camera Object.

The Camera Object provides the camera parameters. Its Map Output forwards those values through the selected SPNet Sender.

### 1. Create the SPNet Sender

1. Add an **SPNet Object** to the Project Tree.
2. Configure it as a **Sender**.
3. Configure the destination and port:

| Setting     | Value          |
| ----------- | -------------- |
| Destination | `237.37.37.37` |
| UDP port    | `37373`        |

You can reuse an existing SPNet Sender configured for this destination.

### 2. Add a Camera Object

Add a **Camera Object** to the Project Tree.

For the first test, adjust the camera's position and rotation manually in its **Coordinates** section.

Use a simple initial lens configuration:

| Setting                  | Value  |
| ------------------------ | ------ |
| Horizontal field of view | `60°`  |
| Aspect ratio             | `16:9` |
| Center shift X and Y     | `0`    |
| K1, K2, and K3           | `0`    |

This gives you a centered camera without radial distortion, making it easier to check the tracking connection first.

### 3. Add the SPNet Camera Map Output

Select the Camera Object:

1. Open its **Maps** section.
2. Add an **SPNet Camera Map Output**.
3. Assign the SPNet Sender created earlier.
4. Configure the outgoing camera ID as `1`.

This ID identifies the camera in the transmitted SPNet data.

Use the standard SPNet Camera output for this integration.
{% endhint %}

The complete setup is:

```
Camera Object
    → SPNet Camera Map Output
    → SPNet Sender
    → TouchDesigner
```

### 4. Test with manual movement

Start the SPNet Sender.

Change the Camera Object's position or rotation in Grid Studio. These changes are sent through the Camera Map Output.

You can also change the field of view to test the lens-data connection.

### Using a live tracking source

For a tracked camera, add the appropriate **Map Input** to the Camera Object and connect your tracking source.

The Map Input drives the camera's parameters. The existing SPNet Camera Map Output then sends the resulting camera data to TouchDesigner.

The workflow becomes:

```
Tracking Source
    → Camera Map Input
    → Camera Object
    → SPNet Camera Map Output
    → SPNet Sender
    → TouchDesigner
```

### Continue in TouchDesigner

Add an **SPNet Camera CHOP** and use:

| Parameter       | Value          |
| --------------- | -------------- |
| Camera ID       | `1`            |
| Multicast Group | `237.37.37.37` |
| Port            | `37373`        |

The camera ID, multicast group, and port must match the outgoing Grid Studio configuration.

Continue with the tracked-camera example to select your scene geometry and preview the rendered result.
