Parameters
Different types of parameters have their unique way of interacting with them.
Numerical Parameters
By default, a numerical value adjustment step is 1. So by either clicking on the up / down arrow next to the value or use the keyboard arrow up / down key, the number would increment / decrement by 1.
You can right click on a parameter and select the Adjustment Tool to chagne the default adjustment step.
Modifiers
With the help of modifier keys, you can either make bigger / finer adjustments.
SHIFT + ALT
adjustment step x 100
ALT
adjustment step x 10
SHIFT
adjustment step x 0.1
CTRL + SHIFT
adjustment step x 0.01
CTRL + ALT + SHIFT
adjustment step x 0.001
If the paramater is a Vector 3D type, you can open the adjustment tool, then use the hotkeys W A S D Q E to adjust the value on the three axis. W S is for the z-axis. A D is for the x-axis. Q E is for the y-aixs
