Hardware Requirements for Licensing
Grid license keys require a TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) on the computer.
Systems without TPM or with TPM 1.x are not supported for license activation.
If a system does not provide TPM 2.0, Grid Studio and Grid Runtime will still function normally for development and testing. However, license keys cannot be activated on that machine, and a hardware dongle must be used instead.
A TPM module is a dedicated hardware security component that securely stores cryptographic keys and is commonly used to protect sensitive system information and software licenses. TPM 2.0 has become a standard feature on modern computers and is also a requirement for Windows 11, meaning most current systems already include this hardware.
TPM modules are typically integrated directly on the motherboard. On many systems, a TPM can also be added later as a small plug-in module if the motherboard provides a TPM header. If you are unsure whether your system supports TPM 2.0, check the motherboard documentation or contact the motherboard manufacturer.
These modules are generally inexpensive. Consumer motherboard TPM modules are often available in a price range of roughly €10–€40, depending on the manufacturer and connector type, while some enterprise or server modules may cost €50 or more.
Only certified TPM 2.0 modules from trusted hardware manufacturers are supported for license activation.
